“A World of Wonders” is made from a panel by Josephine Wall and measures 72″ x 97″. I integrated Star 60 and Quad 60 Stars and Island Batik fabrics to enhance my quilt’s story.

Steppin Out Recapped from Humble Quilts

We had a great time on the first Humble Quilts Zoom class! The teacher (me!) was the only one that had to use the seam ripper! lol

Jean's quilt
Christy's
Sharon's

HERE is a link to Katy's 2 quilts!

Karen and Wendy were unable to attend the day of the Zoom class but watched it later on video. I would LOVE to see your quilts as well!

2 things:

  •  I didn't think the recorded version was very good. I used the icloud storage that comes with the paid Zoom account. So I apologize to those ...

Humble Quilts Class or Workshop? from Humble Quilts

Since I'm training for a half marathon I've had lots of time to let my mind wonder about Humble Quilts and what I want 2022 to look like.
I want to ask you all what you think about a short class once a month. We could do a small quilt project, learn about antique quilts or reproduction fabric. I think the possibilities are endless.  Please watch the short video and let me know what you think!

Leave me a comment or send me an email at HumbleQuilts@gmail.com for any ideas!

Thank you so much!

Videos From My Mother and Other News! from Where Art & Life Meet

First things first. My mother sent me two videos this week and both are too wonderful to not pass along. The text within this video roughly translates to: “What an animal concert: The Cologne pianist Thelonious Herrmann came up with this unusual idea. He took his piano to the Koln Zoo to play among goats,… Continue reading Videos From My Mother and Other News!

Friday Frolic! from Humble Quilts

A friend sent me a box of precious blocks! These are just a handful of terrific fabric with madder. All of the blocks are pretty crispy. Any thoughts about washing? Or just piece them together as is? I didn't iron them but they look pretty accurate despite my photo!

I'm continuing lectures that had to be rescheduled from last year.

It isn't as good as real life, but it is so nice that it is possible to stay connected to quilters!

This is what we call false spring. Just a tease. The hill we were climbing was ...

Janny sent me a photo of her completed string quilt. She was inspired by THIS blog post and quilt that I started in a Gwen Marston class. So wonderful Janny!
If my quilts have inspired you to make a quilt I'd love if you would share that! That really keeps me motivated to blog and quilt!

Here's a little different string quilt from my friend Susan I love everything about this!! Here was her thought process:

I thought I would show you my first string quilt.
It is called Three.

Monday ♪♪ Monday Machine Applique Class from Humble Quilts

Here we go! 2021 is here and it is up to each one of us to make it a great year! Attitude is everything!

I'm going to start with a video on machine applique. I have several quilts I've hand appliqued, but most of mine now are done by machine. I just do not have enough time to do as much hand work as I'd like.

Check out the You Tube video! Click on the photo above or go directly HERE.

Here is one block on an entire reproduction quilt that I machine appliqued.

I've scheduled ...

Fun on A Friday! from Humble Quilts

Happy Friday Friends!

Here's a sneak peak at a vintage quilt purchase! Oh my goodness, it is darling as can be! Who doesn't love polka dots??!! More to come.

Here's my instagram from the last several weeks.

A couple things:

I'm in charge of the Angel Tree program this year and we had a whopping 62 kids. In ONE Sunday, with less people attending (more watching from home these days) and a few texts on Monday all names were spoken for. With our "freeze" the next 2 weeks our church will not be meeting, so I ...

Sparkling Star from Humble Quilts

Last week I string pieced some diamonds to test a block for the String Class I taught online on Saturday.  I'll interject here, I had a really fun time and I think the participants did too.
So, when class was over I finished this star. I'm going to lose a few outside points but I can live with that.
I'm considering making this the center of a medallion quilt.
I forgot how fiddly it was to assemble a LeMoyne star!
The dogs are usually in the living room, but because I was set up in the kitchen ...

Technical Difficulties from Humble Quilts

One positive thing, my son came over and helped me set up my 2 camera system set up so I can do workshops through Zoom. Because one is a new class for 2020 I had not been able to do it live before covid hit. Would any of you be interested in paying for a class for me to work a few bugs out? If I have enough interest I'll get it set up.

This is the class:
